Jennifer enjoys the unique reputation as a world authority on the French composer, Olivier Messiaen, and was his organist of choice.

In 1975, upon hearing Jennifer Bate perform a program of his works, Olivier Messiaen wrote the following recommendation about Jennifer Bate. "...is an excellent organist,
not only for her virtuosity, but also for her musicianship and sensitivity in choosing her timbres. She is a really accomplished musician who loves what she plays and knows how to make others love it too!" This marked the beginning of a close artistic association and friendship between the two.

(of Jennifer Bate) "She is a really accomplished musician, who loves to play, and knows how to make others love it too."
(Olivier Messiaen)

(of Meditations) "Even at a superficial glance the listener can enjoy the glories revealed by these deeply committed performances. The organ sound is fantastic...Jennifer Bate's assured and colourful playing makes first impressions that will turn listeners into pilgrims...wonderfully majestic."
(of Livre d'orgue) "involving a variety of Hindu rhythms and birdsong in extreme rhytmic complexity...with frequent silences and intricate detail, this, of all organ works, is the one most benefiting from the CD medium...Felix Aprahamian's wonderfully informative notes round off a first-class release."
