Stevenson's very free transcriptions...somewhat after the fashion of Liszt's concert paraphrases, are imaginatively creative...Center's Sonata...a major contribution to the repertory not in the least difficult to approach...Six bagatelles...strikingly diverse...Chidren at Play is an enchanting piece...all played with considerable bravura by Murray McLachlan who is clearly sympathetic...rosette is awarded not just for enterprise but equally from admiration and pleasure.
