Alfred Deller and Vanguard Records were at the forefront of historically informed performances of early music, and the results of that collaboration bore full fruit when focused on the music of the composers included here. This extensive collection includes the first recording of a Bach cantata using original instruments, numerous premiere recordings of the works of Byrd, Tallis and the composers of the English Renaissance and the first complete recording of Handel's Alexander's Feast. This set also includes five Tallis Hymns never before released on CD, performed by the Deller Consort.
